Peter Melonas
Freelance Comic Artist, Illustrator, & More
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, I discovered my passion for visual arts early on through comic books.
Inspired by legendary illustrators like Neil Adams, Jack Kirby, Jim Mooney, Thomas P. Gill, and Kurt Schaffenberger,
I was captivated by their ability to bring characters to life—especially in black and white.
Their influence sparked my journey as an illustrator. With a pencil always in hand, I spent my childhood sketching original characters, supported wholeheartedly by my parents.
My father, a constant mentor, nurtured my creativity and encouraged my growth.
I later pursued formal training in graphic design and print production through college and trade school, laying the foundation for a career that has spanned over 30 years. As a professional artist, illustrator, and graphic designer, I’ve created characters that live within the mainstream of pop culture.
Now retired from the daily grind, I continue to contribute as a freelance artist, hoping to inspire others just as I was inspired.
For me, art isn’t just what you see—it’s what you make others see.
