Willie Nelson is made of red oak in 1987. He is one of my favorite carvings, signed by me in 1987 and Willie in 1997. He was made as a Christmas gift for my late father. The rest of them are whittlings rather than carvings. I use a knife and a few hand chisels for my whittling and mostly basswood. The carvings are done with large chisels and a mallet. I am working on one for a fella now of Lemme, the Godfather of Heavy Metal.

So, if you like buying things made in America, these pieces are made of basswood from Michigan, carved with knives from Erie PA, by a guy in TN, painted with paint made in GA all while the fella sips bourbon from KY. That is 5 states! See more at www.heirloomsbychuck.com My site has more than my wood carvings so scroll down a little and on the menu to the left click wood carvings.
